Rallies in Scandinavia

The DCA has a growing presence in Scandinavia and  a small group of members based in the area have decided to organise some rallies in 2022. There are a great many wonderful dinghy cruising areas in Norway, Denmark and Sweden and we hope this is just the beginning of regular rally programmes in the area, with meets attended by members from all over Europe and the UK as  well as those living in Scandinavia.

2022 Programme

4 - 6 June      Sørlandet,   Norway
The plan is to   launch from the seaside town of Tvedestrand on the south coast and explore the archipelago beyond.  In Tvedestrand the DCA has been given free use of the slipway and parking facilities at Østerå Marina. The plan is to meet up on Furøya Island on Saturday 4th June around noon. Furøya Island is less than 2 NM from the launching spot/slipway at Østerå Marina, and we will most probably meet at the restaurant for refreshments before, depending on the forecast, we decide the first leg of the cruise.

Furøya Island
For those arriving on Friday, there are no restrictions to camping on the island, and the island has a number of public toilets, several mooring options and safe anchorages. In the event of lively wind conditions, we may opt to stay in fairly sheltered waters behind the islands of Tverrdalsøya, Borøya and Sandøya. If the forecast is fair on the other hand, we may explore Skagerrak and the less sheltered waters to the south-east of these islands where there are a number of safe anchorages for overnight stops.
Organiser's contact details can be found in the Journal.
19 - 21 August     Limfjord, Denmark
This rally will explore parts of the western section of the Limfjord. We plan to launch from Hjarbæk harbour on Friday morning. Participants from the DCA may use the slipway, parking and club facilities of Viborg Sailing Club located on the eastern side of the harbour. The club also has a number of cozy camping shelters overlooking the bay, which will be at our disposal, e.g. for anyone arriving the day before. Alternatively, it is also possible to rent small cabins at the nearby Hjarbæk Fjord Camping.

Meals and refreshments are available at the harbour inn “Hjarbæk Kro”, which is open 11.30 a.m. - 11.00 p.m. Should anyone prefer to arrive late or leave early, it will also be possible to join the rally by launching from the slipway at Virksund, immediately north of the lock. The lock is operated by a keeper from 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. Overnight stops will be discussed with participants closer to the date but we will most likely be spending one night on the island of Fur or Livø. Some of the beautiful boats from the local Sjægt Association (
www.sjægt.dk) have expressed an interest in joining us. Please get in touch for more information. Text or call Per for more details. Phone number in the Journal and DCA Forum.
