South Coast Rally Programme

South Coast Region's rally programme for 2022
The South Coast Regional Secretary is Alan Moulton. If you have any questions about the rally programme  or would like to join a rally prior to becoming a member of the DCA,  you can contact Alan by email.

Please note:

  1. All venues are   weather dependent    as usual and   these days   Covid dependent   as well.  
  2.  Details of Rally hosts can be found in the Forum.   Always check individual rallies in the Forum before heading off to launch.      Full details of each one will be available in the Forum's South Section from approximately a fortnight beforehand, including  any last minute changes. 
  3. Portsmouth  HW  tide times are indicated beside each rendezvous point.     They may be quite different where you are launching, so please check your own tide tables.​

(L)= Suggested launch site with parking for car and trailer​
(C)= Wild camping possible
(D)= Deep water anchorage nearby
(S)= Passage to  location is possible using sheltered waters

Overnight at the pontoon, visit the famous Inn, possibly continue to Newport.      HW 22.02

​​25 June,     Hayling Island Daysail, with overnight option
Launch at Itchenor or Warblington Road for a circumnavigation of Hayling Island returning to Chichester Harbour for recovery or an optional overnight stay.

23/4 July, Newtown Creek  , IoW
A beautiful and tranquil natural harbour. Camp either at Shalfleet Quay for a visit to the New Inn or in the Western Haven for a quiet night swinging at anchor.      (CD)

06/7 August, Ashlett Creek     
​Ashlett is a small settlement in Hampshire at the end of a tidal inlet of Southampton Water, with a well-preserved tidal mill and a decent pub!     (CS)

13 August,     Daysail from Warsash to Wootton Creek
​This is a challenging daysail, diagonally crossing the Eastern Solent to Wootton Bridge. Successful completion depends on the strength of the prevailing SW breezes.

The Cobnor Camping Fortnight   offers family camping for DCA members on an attractive site with all-tide launching
facilities for boats under 5m and 220kg weight.   For non-sailors there are lovely walks to be had on the South Downs   or by the harbour and there is  a cycle hire shop in Fishbourne.   Chichester town centre has excellent shops and there are numerous interesting museums in the   area.
